It's a good "community" library, but a poor college student library. What I mean by this is that it has a very friendly and open setting with lots of lights, and computers, but it is EXTREMELY limited in the number of desks to sit at and study. I can count 8-12 desks upstairs, which by the way, is the only place to study, because downstairs is 100% inhabited by 2-10 year olds. They are also pretty much 3x3 ft desks, so it's really a one person desk unless you want to make it really awkward for the other person by asking to sit at this tiny desk with them. So, you really only have 8-12 spots to potentially study, so if you come late, tough luck buttercups, cause it's time to sit at one of the computer spots where some elderly person is going to be blasting youtube and you are too young to give them a hard time about it. Also, there are 4 study carrels upstairs, with only a max of 2 hours per minimum group of 2. This is as close as you are going to get in terms of a good studying experience. All in all, this place should ditch the 3x3 "shared" tables and include more personal individual study tables like at colleges. It's a real shame too, since it forces me to pretty much have to drive to Howard Community College and study at their wonderful library there. A full 8 minute longer commute just to have a spot to sit at and study. FeelsBadMan. Please, incorporate a lot of individual study desks at this location please. It's more of a "hang-out" area now with all these chairs and what not, instead of being a place to crunch for class.
My advice for this problem is that you go to the library as soon as it opens. For example, if you are going to the library on Saturday and it opens at 10, go to the library at 10 sharp or somewhere near 10 sharp. That way, you can get a study room earlier.
On a whole, this library is great!!!
A great big library. Sure, there are a couple of things I might do differently, but that would just be nitpicking. I do wish they shelved fiction by genre, e.g. mysteries, scifi, etc. A lot of traffic every time I've been there, which is great to see. A buzzing place.
Large, clean, fully equipped and updated facility. Very nice private rooms. Visited this Library for an audition. I could exit out on the second floor into a foyer that leads to a patio to practice my lines.
The staff are very nice. The environment is calming. One problem with this library is study rooms. It is very hard to find a place to do your work in this library. Study rooms are always taken. There are limated amount of desks to study in, especially upstairs.
This library is gorgeous and really well designed. There are meeting rooms and lots of interesting events hosted. The staff is very friendly and helpful. One of the best libraries I've been to.
